Darren Thompson

Nationwide lender for single-family rental (SFR) property investors B2R Finance announced this week that Darren Thompson has been hired as CFO and EVP of strategy.

Thompson brings more than 30 years of experience in the real estate and mortgage industries to B2R Finance. His previous positions include executive leadership roles with American Express, Fannie Mae, Morgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs. Most recently, he was a founding member of Railfield Partners, a real estate and financial services advisory and asset management boutique.

As CFO and EVP of strategy of B2R Finance, Thompson's responsibilities include oversight of finance, accounting and control risk, and regulatory and corporate strategy functional areas. He will work out of the company's New York office and report directly to the company's CEO, Jason Hogg.

"Darren is a veteran executive who brings industry insight and valuable experience managing rapidly scaling fintech businesses," Hogg said. "Darren’s broad expertise ranges from capital efficiency and financial management to business innovation and strategic partnerships across a variety of industry verticals. In our previous work together, Darren proved to be a dynamic leader and his addition to the B2R team ensures we are well positioned to continue to diversify our business."

Thompson previously served as the CFO for Revolution Money, which is now American Express Serve, and he moved into a special advisor role with American Express following the latter company's acquisition of American Express Serve. At Fannie Mae, Thompson was SVP and head of credit finance, responsible for pricing and risk analytics for the GSE's single-family and multifamily portfolio and guarantee business. He also served as senior portfolio with Avenue Capital and managing director with Goldman Sachs. Thompson has a bachelor's from Harvard College and a master's from Harvard Business School.
